6 Litre AFFF Foam Extinguisher manufactured to BS EN 3 and CE Kite Marked
With a BSI (British Standards)fire rating of 13A/113B
AFFF Foam is ideal for Class 'A' fires: Solids - any material of an organic nature (compounds of carbon) such as wood, paper, cloth both natural and synthetic and Class 'B' fires: Liquids - petrol, thinners, solvents, lubricating oils, paint etc. and liquid based or materials that will liquefy when heated such as cooking fat, waxes, polystyrene plastics etc, but must not be used on live electrical fires.
This is probably one of the best extinguishing media. It will not only cool the same as water but also will penetrate quicker and smother the fire area with a blanket of foam preventing re-ignition.
If the extinguisher is to be located in an unheated environment during winter months such as in a barn or outhouse, boat etc, a low freeze additive (ethylene glycol) should be added to the extinguishing media. This can be done at manufacture if you ask (extra cost obviously, but worth it).
It is important anyone likely to use an extinguisher is properly trained in its safe use.
